MANKATO (TEC News) -- You don't see this happen on the hit TV show Pawn Stars.
Mankato police say a 20-year-old man walked into Pawn America Tuesday afternoon hoping to pawn off a pair of snowboards.
That's where "dumb luck" stepped in, according to Commander Jeremy Clifton.
The staff at Pawn America really didn't know how much the boards were worth so they called sporting goods store Scheels to find out.
Scheels informed them they just had two similar snowboards stolen from their store.
So Pawn America called 9-1-1 and officers arrived to find Bradley Blaine Beckstead still waiting in the store.
Clifton says it appears Beckstead allegedly went straight from Scheels to the nearby pawn shop.
The boards were worth a combined $1,100, making it a felony level theft.
He was arrested and jailed on suspicion of felony theft and possession of stolen property.
