MANKATO – Mankato police say they approached the man on his bicycle early Sunday morning because it all seemed a bit out of the ordinary.
It was 5 a.m. and the man was peddling his bike and pulling a cooler near the intersection of Victory and Main.
Commanders say the officer pulled up to the guy on the bike to see what was going on. They say at first he ignored the questions, but they he ditched the bike and took off between some houses.
Police found the bike about three blocks later chained to a fence. They located the rider, later identified as 22-year-old William Robert Jesseman, “sweating profusely” and walking near his home in the 2500 block of East Main.
The blue Rubbermaid cooler, valued at around $50, had been taken from outside a home in the 100 block of S. Redwood Drive.
Charges of theft and fleeing police are being requested by police.
