MANKATO (TEC News) -- A Craigslist scam looks like it will cost a Mankato man some cold hard cash.Mankato police say the 22-year-old man had listed a weight set for sale on the website for $275.
But the potential buyer sent the man a check for $1,800 with instructions to cash the check, keep his $275 dollars, and send the balance via Western Union to an account in Texas.
Police say the man later was told by his bank that the check was bad.
The scam apparently happened on November 2nd, but wasn't reported to police until Saturday.
