MANAKTO-October 31, 2012-(KMKO)--A road project estimated above $471,000 is set to begin Nov. 5. The Minnesota Department of Transportation will have detours posted on Highway 22, a mile south of Blue Earth County Road 90. Traffic will be detoured to County Road 90, Highway 83 and Blue Earth County Road 15 for about one week as trucks haul rip rap (large rocks) and gabions (cages with rock) down a steep hill. The Minnesota Department of Transportation is stabilizing two areas where past flooding has eroded the river bank and threatens to impact Highway 22.  Work will continue after the detour is lifted and the project should be completed by the end of November.
