MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A cold, wet spring and an arid August aren't expected to make this year's corn harvest worse than last year. The late-summer drought is likely to put a dent in the harvest of soybeans. The lack of rain in August has caused some soybean fields to mature early.

CHRISTINE, N.D. (AP) — Opponents of the planned Red River diversion around Fargo-Moorhead are raising money to pay for a federal lawsuit against the project. About 500 people turned out last night for a fundraising steak dinner in the town of Christine. The lawsuit over the nearly $2 billion project claims it is vastly overpriced and will damage farmland.

JACKSON, Minn. (AP) — A mother and her adult daughter from Jackson have died in a crash in southwestern Minnesota. The patrol says Norma Kanuch was the driver of a car that was eastbound on Jackson County Road 4 when it hit a semi headed northbound on U.S. Highway 71. The wreck also killed Donna Kanuch.

BURNSVILLE, Minn. (AP) — A shooting outside a bar in Burnsville has left one man dead. Police say it happened early Sunday at Nina's Grill after an argument in the parking lot escalated into a shooting around closing time. Officers arrived to find the victim dead in the parking lot.
