MANKATO – Felony burglary charges have been filed against a 21-year-old St. James man who is accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s parent’s home on Plato Street in Mankato.
A called told police that Joseph Thurston was outside their home honking his horn and yelling at a female inside the home.
When police arrived they found a black handgun in his car and a back window open with the screen pushed in.
They found Thurston hiding inside a bedroom closet.
Thurston told police he was being set up and that his ex-girlfriend sent a text telling him to come over. However police looked at her phone and found messages telling Thurston to not come over and a message from him asking her if she wanted him to break in.
