MANKATO – The Mankato woman who swiped a can of Reddi Whip and a box of candy from the downtown Mankato HyVee on Valentine’s Day has been sentenced to community service and $300 in fines.24-year-old Nancy Rodriquez, who was late today for her sentencing hearing, was also ordered to pay just over $2,000 in restitution for damages in a car accident she caused while fleeing the downtown area.
Police said Rodriquez left the scene of the crash at the intersection of Hickory and Fifth. She was later arrested inside a home in the 100 block of Hanover.
“I know I made mistakes,” Rodriquez told Judge Krista Jass. “I just want to get out of this rough path.”
That rough patch also includes $1,160 in fines for a DWI last summer in Nicollet County.

She previously entered guilty pleas to charges of theft, driving after revocation, and leaving the scene of an accident. Charges of driving without insurance, reckless driving and obstruction were dropped as part of the plea.
Rodriquez was sentenced to 30 days in jail. 28 days were suspended and she was given credit for the two days she spent in jail after her arrest. She was also ordered to complete 10 days of community service.
“Did the store get back the merchandise,” asked Judge Jass?
“Yes they did,” replied Rodriquez.
