Search is On For Missing Mankato Teen

MANKATO (TEC News) -- Family members are searching for a 15-year-old Mankato girl who went missing Saturday from a treatment facility in Wisconsin.

According to an email sent out my family members, Samantha Frericks was last seen around 3:30 p.m. at a home in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

"We believe she may be heading towards the Mankato direction," wrote Jennifer Larsen.

Samantha Frericks is the daughter of Larsen's brother.

Frericks is described at 5-foot-2, 115 pounds with light brown hair and hazel eyes. She also has a six inch scar on the back of her right upper arm.

Mankato police say they were contacted by Frericks's case worker with Blue Earth County Human Services.

"We're told there's a possibility she may be returning to the Mankato area, she is from the Mankato area, and so just based on the knowledge we were made aware of it so we could be on the lookout for her," said Detective Commander Matt DuRose.

DuRose says there were some concerns it was a hoax, but says the plea for help is real.

"If she does return to the area and someone see her they should feel as though they should call 9-1-1and have the police respond there," said DuRose.

In addition to 9-1-1, anyone with information can also call 507-327-6369 or 507-327-4277.
