Ethanol Content As High As 63 Percent

MANKATO (TEC News) – The Minnesota Commerce Department says one sample of a bad blend of gasoline shipped to southern Minnesota gas stations last week had a 63 percent ethanol blend.

The maximum is supposed to be 10 percent.

At least 108 tankers of fuel were loaded and trucked out of Mankato’s Magellan petroleum plant during a four hour period on Saturday. 60 gas stations in 21 towns received the gasoline with the excess ethanol blend.

Magellan issued an written apology on Thursday accepting responsibility for what they called an “unfortunate incident.”

Magellan apologized to customers, suppliers, distributors, service stations and convenience store owners.
