Fight At Hairball Concert Results In Charges



MANKATO (TEC News) -- A rowdy concert by the coverband "Hairball" at the Verizon Wireless Center has resulted in charges against a Belle Plaine man for with fighting concert goers and police.

Mankato police were called to the downtown civic center just before 11:30 Friday night for a report of a man walking around the dance floor swinging and trying to start fights.

When police arrived they encountered an intoxicated 21-year-old Nicholas Schmidt of Belle Plaine fighting with security and yelling obscenities.

Schmidt fought with police and asked for his father as police tried to handcuff him.

A court complaint says police had to use a "mandibular angle pressure point" hold to try to subdue Schmidt.

Charges:
1) Obstruct Legal Process-Interfere w/Peace Officer -- Gross Misdemeanor
2) Obstruct Legal Process-Interfere w/Peace Officer -- Misdemeanor
3) Disorderly Conduct-Brawling or Fighting -- Misdemeanor
