MANKATO (TEC News) – The woman arrested earlier this week for allegedly trying to shoplift over $2,100 in merchandise from a Mankato Target is now in jail.
While details at this time are sketchy, Mankato police today said they arrested 26-year-old, Jessica June Friedrichs Wednesday night as the result of what they believe was a large shoplifting ring in Mankato.
Commander Amy Vocal says officers were summoned to an unidentified Mankato business just after 7 p.m. by loss prevention officials in reference to information about the theft of a large amount of merchandise.
It appears as officers conducted their investigation it uncovered several other possible cases. Vocal says it appears there was “ongoing shoplifting as various locations.”
According to Mankato police, in addition to Friedrichs, they arrested 26-year-old Javier Manuel Rodriguez and 24-year-old Valerie Jean Rodriquez. All three are from Mankato.
The Blue Earth County Jail roster shows all three remain in custody this afternoon on theft charges.
No formal charges have been filed today. The trio would have to go before a judge sometime Friday.
Tuesday night, Friedrichs was cited by Mankato police for felony theft after Target employees stopped her after pushing her cart past checkouts and through the doors with $2,164.75 of unpaid merchandise.
Friedrichs has yet to be charged for the Target incident.
A police report shows she filled the cart with cleaning and laundry supplies, clothing, bras, nylons, makeup, perfume, electronics, DVDs, candy and groceries.
