Mankato (KMKO)-Yesterday was the deadline for candidates to file paperwork for elective office and two people entered the field on the last day. Chris Frederick is running for the at Large seat now held by Mike Laven on the Mankato city council. The only other incumbent on the council facing a challenge is Fourth Ward member Charlie Hurd, who's running against Jason Mattick. The other candidate to file yesterday was Caroline Wood, who's challenging Mark Peipho for his District Three seat on the Blue Earth County board. In Nicollet County, Commissioner Marie Dranttel faces two challengers for her District One seat, Terry Geelin and James Golgart. In District Two, incumbent David Johnson is running against James Stenson. Jack Kolars faces Bill Schindle in the race for his District Four seat.
