Mankato (KMKO)-A Mankato man faces several charges after a brutal assault on his mother.  Matthew Rafter was arrested after the attack last August.  The woman told Mankato police she was in bed when Rafter came in complaining that she didn't answer his call and his blood sugar was low.  He allegedly began punching and kicking her, then bit her on the wrist.  Rafter, who has two prior domestic violence-related convictions, is now charged with two counts of felony domestic assault.  The 32-year-old man faces a July 19th court date.
