MANKATO (KMKO) -- The Mankato man charged with the brutal assault and kidnapping earlier this month is well known to law enforcement and the courts.
 
The latest case involving 23 year-old Dustin Lee Murilla is the alleged kidnapping, theft, assault, and false imprisonment of a man he knew earlier this month.
 
In 2009, he turned himself in after firing rounds from a 18-milimenter handgun in a drive-by shooting in New Ulm. He was sentenced to 18 months after pleading guilty,.
 
In April of this year he was involved in the stabbing of a man at an apartment complex in Mankato. He’s was out awaiting sentencing in that case when the current incident happened.
