ST. PAUL-August 15, 2012-(KMKO)-Allen Quist was the winner of yesterday's Republican primary election and will represent the party in the campaign against First District Congressman Tim Waltz.  Quist garnered 54% of the vote, compared to Mike Parry's 46%.  Quist is a former Minnesota House member and retired professor at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato.  He currently owns and operates an 800 acre farm in rural St. Peter.  Waltz is seeking his fourth term in congress.  The Democrat is a Mankato West High School teacher who is on unpaid leave as he serves in Washington, D.C.
