ST. PETER (August 20, 2012) –Bail remains at $20,000 after a Mankato man wanted it lowered during a hearing on Monday in Nicollet County Court.
 
33-year-old Joseph Baker wanted the bail lowered to $2,000 because he couldn’t raise the higher amount.
 
The woman who was assaulted testified that Baker should get help and not locked up. A judge allowed her to write or talk to him on the phone, but no direct communication.
 
He’s facing two felony charges for breaking her right orbital eye socket with his hand.
