MANKATO September 10, 2012 (KMKO) – At the last minute, a plea offer in the robbery case of Jose Chavez Jr. was rejected.The Austin man faces two felonies for his alledged role in the July 2012 beating and robbery of a Mankato newspaper delivery man who was in his car waiting for a friend.
Assistant County Attorney Chris Rovney told the judge he offered to stay a jail sentence and that offer is now off the table.
Chavez Jr.’d attorney, Tracy Leigh Barnes, asked the judge for a contested omnibus hearing, and plans to challenge the ID which took place in the sally port of the jail.
A 45 minute hearing is planned for November 7th at 2:30 p.m.
