WASHINGTON, D.C.-September 17, 2012-(KMKO)-A former student at Minnesota State University, Mankato has been killed in Afghanistan. Sgt. Kyle B. Osborn, of Lafayette, Indiana, died Thursday in Muqer, Afghanistan, of wounds he suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with small arms and rocket propelled grenade fire. Osborn studied at MSU for two years before joining the army. Osborn's mother and wife are at Dover Air Force Base, waiting for the return of his body, which is expected this afternoon. Osborn was in the 1st Battalion of the 503rd Infantry Regiment in the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat He was 26 years old.
