MANKATO-October 12, 2012-(KMKO)-A red-shirt, sophomore quarterback for the MSU football team will have to pay $277 in fines and fees for a petty misdemeanor shoplifting charge at Scheel's in Mankato.  20-year-old Keland Smith started all six games last seasons and their six games this year.  Yesterday, Smith entered a guilty plea to theft and told the judge he went to the store to buy something.  He says they didn't have it and he saw something else he liked, but didn't have the money to buy it.  A criminal complaint says he took some arm sleeves and put them down his shorts.
