MN Teen Challenger Benefit
Fishing Tournament for Minnesota Teen Challenge and Young Life
MANKATO (TEC News) - A fishing tournament to help raise funds for Minnesota Teen Challenge and Greater Mankato Young Life will take place Saturday, June 8 on Madison Lake.
Teams of two will have eight hours to compete in the first annual multi-species fishing tournament for $7,000 in prizes from sponsors like Cabela's and Johnson Outdoors. The tournament was organized by professional walleye fisherman, Tom Davis. After organizing several successful tournaments for MN Teen Challenge, Davis was approached by GMYL. With the help of MN Teen Challenge, Davis registered 60 teams for the tournament, and raised nearly $20,000 for the two organizations.
The money raised will go toward helping pair Mankato youth with Christian role models, and helping Minnesota teens beat alcohol and drug addition, said Davis. A pre-tournament dinner will be held at North Mankato's Crossview Covenant Church on Friday, June 7. For more information about the tournament, call Davis at 317-3071, or GMYL at 995-1741.
