Senator Sheran Continues to Promote Clean Indoor Air Standards [CLIP]

ST. PAUL (TEC News), March 28 – The Senate Commerce committee recently passed a bill that would uphold the standard of clean indoor air in the state. Senator Kathy Sheran (DFL-Mankato) says there is a lot we don’t know about e-cigarettes, including the health effects of the vapor, secondhand. “The major provision in the first part of the bill is to ask e-users to restrict their use to their own space and their own homes and to protect the public places from the emissions that come from those electronic cigarettes.”

Sheran says this bill would move e-cigarette use under the Freedom to Breathe Act established in 2007, which eliminated smoking in workplaces, including bars and restaurants. “This is a bill that is very supportive of persons, who are adults; who use e-cigarettes, being able to make those decisions themselves, as long as they use that product in a way that does not have a negative impact on others.”  She feels because of the lack of health information, this would be the best solution to cover all bases.
