MANKATO -- Brought in by the young son of a soldier, an American flag and a city of Mankato flag, were returned to the Mankato city council chambers Monday night after flying in Afghanistan.
The flags were mailed to Jeff Johnson, a city of Mankato engineer, now serving in the reserves as a chief warrant officer at Kandahar Air Base in Afghanistan.
City staff say the flags flew over the air base on Sunday, December 12, 2010.
Tonight, Johnson's son Andrew, a cub scout, along with members of Boy Scout Troop 4 and the American Legion Post 11 color guard, marched the colors back into council chambers.
Johnson's wife and daughter, Maria and Jenny were also present.
