Melting Ice Causes Problems At Mankato Restaurant

MANKATO -- Mankato fire officials say it appears water from a melting ice dam seeped into the walls of a Mankato restaurant late Monday night causing a power outage.

Acting Commander Scott LeBrun says they were called to the Leeann Chin restaurant in the University Square near Minnesota State University just before 10 p.m.

Water in the wall cause an electrical outlet in the rear of the restaurant to arch and spark. The breakers tripped preventing a fire.

LeBrun says firemen did have to pull down part of the interior wall which revealed the water inside the wall.

There was no damage estimate.
