MSU Mason Named All-American



MANKATO -- Minnesota State senior Jefferson Mason has been named the eighth All-American in the history of Maverick basketball.

Today he was selected to the 2011 State Farm/National Basketball Coaches Association Division II All-American squad.

This season as he has also been named First-Team All-Conference by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, First-Team All-Region by Daktronics and First-Team All-District by the NABC. He was also named the Most Valuable Player of the NCAA Central Region tournament.

Mason is the sixth All-American under head coach Matt Margenthaler, joining Travis Nelson (2009-2010), Atila Santos (2007-2008), Luke Anderson (2005-2006, 2006-2007) and Jamel Staten (2004-2005).

Minnesota State (27-4) opens the 2011 NCAA Elite Eight tournament Wednesday at 2:30 p.m (EDT) against Alabama-Huntsville.
