MANKATO – A Blue Earth County Grand Jury had indicted Jennifer Lee Nibbe on charges of First Degree Premeditated Murder.
Assistant Blue Earth County Attorney Pat McDermott informed Three Eagles News of the indictment around 4:30 p.m.
The grand jury also handed down another single count of Second Degree Intentional Murder for the 33-year-old Lake Crystal woman.
Nibbe is accused of the shotgun slaying of her husband last August inside their rural Lake Crystal home. Nibbe initially called law enforcement to say that an intruder shot her husband James in the couple’s bed. Nibbe also claimed she struggled with the intruder before he fled.
McDermott says Nibbe will now appear in court on the new indictment within the next few days. It has yet scheduled by the court.
Due to the private nature of the grand jury, McDermott was unable to give specifics of just how long the grand jury deliberated before handing down the indictment.
The grand jury convened this morning and at that time McDermott said he expected it would take him into the afternoon to present his case to the jury.
