"I have friends or family who are just getting started in photography and want to shoot my wedding as a their gift to me. I'm honored and want to help them out as well, but really nervous. I know that if something goes wrong I can't say anything and I really want good pictures. What do I do?"
That is a common question as photographers are popping up everywhere. My best advice is to hire a professional. Someone with experience to capture the moments that can't be recreated. Tell your friend or family member that you are honored that they would want to give you such a nice gift. It would save you money and it would be great to have someone you know be the photographer. But.... You want them to be a guest at the wedding not working! They are important to you and this is a celebration of combining your friends and families together. If they want to take images of you getting ready or engagement images to build their portfolio you would be happy with that. Another option is at the reception for group, family and candids maybe even after the photographer leaves.
