MSU Students Walk For Higher Ed Funding Awareness

MANKATO – Student leaders at MinnesotaStateUniversity, Mankato are scheduled to begin a three day walk to the State Capitol to draw attention to the importance of higher education funding.

At the capitol, the students will meet with legislators.

The message is that decreased state funding for higher ed increases the financial pressure on college students.

Taking part in the walk are former Minnesota State Student Association President and Vice Presidents Tom Williams and Brett Anderson. They will be accompanied by new President Matt Lexcen and VP Moriah Miles.

Anderson says students contribute 55 percent of total higher education revenue in Minnesota. They say the state has reneged on a commitment to provide more than 50 percent of total higher education revenue.
