RURAL LAKE CRYSTAL -- A rural Blue Earth County man was killed Saturday in a lawn mower accident.
Authorities responded to a 9-1-1 call around 2:15 p.m to the rural Madelia address and found 59-year-old Gary Wersal unresponsive and pinned under the riding mower.
Investigators determined the mower was stuck in the mud behind his home. While trying to free the mower, Wersal rigged the throttle at full. When the mower came loose, it ran into Wersal and drug him 15 feet before becoming stuck in the mud again.
He was dead at the scene.
