AUDIO/PHOTO - Mankato Police Adjusting To Temporary Home

MANKATO – The Mankato Department of Public Safety are officially open for business in the former MnDOT and State Patrol headquarters.

The department will be there for around 14 months and the downtown Public Safety Center is renovated.

Commander Craig Frericks says Monday went pretty smooth, answering calls and unpacking in between.

"I think we'll be a little cramped," said Frericks. "I think we'll make it work the best we can."

The tougher adjustment may come from the public.

"We have signs up (at the old building) and hopefully when they see that or word of mouth that they'll come up here," said Frericks.
Phone numbers for the department remain the same.
