Some People Are Ditching Toilet Paper in Favor of a ‘Family Cloth’

Most of us have been throwing a packet of t.p. into the cart during our weekly shopping for as long as we can remember.

We don’t even think about it, it’s just a pretty boring essential.

But lots of people are now making the decision to ditch the toilet paper in favor of something new – a family cloth.

Users claim they are a cheaper and more eco-friendly alternative and apparently we should all be using them, but they’re probably not for everyone.

They are small squares of cloth which are used in exactly the same way as toilet paper, except when you’re done they go in a basket in the bathroom rather than down the toilet.

They’re then washed and used over and over again.

Some people will only use the cloths when they’re going for a wee and will still use toilet roll when it comes to number twos, but others use them for everything.

You can make the cloths yourself using old clothing or they are available to buy and there are a surprisingly large variety of patterns and designs on the market.

One mom who has introduced the cloths at home for herself, her husband and her two children, has explained what it’s really like to use them.

Speaking to Buzzfeed she said: “So far it’s wonderful and I can’t imagine going back.

“In my mind, buying and using disposable toilet paper was literally flushing money down the toilet.

“If you’re wondering, ‘Why would you want to reuse something that you wipe your genitals with?’, I’d answer this question with my own question: ‘Do you throw away your underpants after each use?'”

Unsurprisingly, some people aren’t quite ready for the new idea and many have taken to social media to share their disapproval.
