(Gaylord, MN) – A man who was allegedly wandered through a Sibley County park naked now faces criminal charges.

Adrian Leo Scheffler, 21, was charged Monday in Sibley County Court with gross misdemeanor fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct, indecent exposure, and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

According to the criminal complaint, police were dispatched to Rush River County Park in Sibley County on June 29th just before 9:30 p.m. for reports of a naked man walking around the park.  Police later identified the man as Scheffler.

Witnesses told police Scheffler was walking naked through campsites, some with children, while making comments about his genitals.

The complaint says Scheffler was verbally aggressive with arresting officers and obviously intoxicated.  A portable breath test put his blood alcohol at .24.

Scheffler told police he’d been tubing at the park with friends, but decided to get drunk on shore.  He was uncertain where he’d removed his clothing, according to police.  Officers were unable to locate his clothes or his friends, according to the complaint.

An officer on the scene remembered Scheffler from a DWI arrest in Le Sueur County the previous evening in which his blood alcohol content measured .16.

Naked crime is not entirely rare in Sibley County.  Last summer an Arlington man was charged with two counts of indecent exposure for taking his trash out in the nude.  He was later convicted of one of the two counts.
