Don’t Get Stuck Singing The Wedding Debt Blues

Weddings are supposed to fill guests with feelings of happiness, joy and love, but according to a new survey from LendingTree, it’s really just filling people up with debt. 54% of Americans say they attended a wedding in the last five years and, of those, 31% said it put them in significant debt. Things like bachelor/bachelorette parties, bridal showers, travel, outfits and gifts for the couple add up to a lot of money. 43% said they spent up to $500 just to attend a wedding. 29% paid more than $500, and 12% said it cost them more than $1000. But although no one wants to be in debt, 74% said it was worth it to attend the wedding.
