Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the state patrol’s crash report, Besemer was southbound on County Road 10 when he failed to stop at the stop sign where the road intersects with Highway 14. The Ford Five Hundred he was driving crashed broadside with a Ford Windstar that was westbound on Highway 14. The Windstar was driven by 49-year-old Sanjuanita Salazar-Lozano of Sleepy Eye.
Salazar-Lozano and an 8-year-old boy in the vehicle both suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to New Ulm Medical Center.
Two passengers in the Windstar suffered life-threatening injuries and were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. One was 64-year-old Elida Alvarado; the second was an 8-year-old boy.
