(Mankato, MN) – Motorists affected by the Highway 14/15 road construction will see some relief starting next Monday.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says the new interchange will open at 5 p.m. in all directions with the exception of the west leg into New Ulm.  That segment of the roadway requires crossing the Minnesota River bridge, which is still under construction.

Highway 14 and 15 travelers heading west into New Ulm will be detoured to the 20th Street Bridge.

The interchange was completed ahead of schedule.

Lengthy delays hindered construction on the Minnesota River Bridge, but work has resumed.  The project was initially slated for completion in June 2020.

Construction on the Highway 14/15 Gateway project began in 2017 to correct intersection safety, aging bridges, poor pavement conditions, and occasional road flooding around New Ulm.
