A flight in Mexico, from Guadalajara to Mexico City, was delayed for more than two hours on the tarmac because of a mosquito infestation on the plane.

Passengers boarded the plane, took their seats, and were waiting to take off when a huge swarm of mosquitos descended on the main cabin and began feasting on everybody. Passengers spent hours swatting at the blood-suckers while crew members walked up and the aisle with bug spray. Ultimately, the infestation stopped once they turned off the lights in the cabin and the flight took off.

Officials explained that the airport in Guadalajara sits in an area with heavy vegetation that frequently floods, so it’s an ideal breeding ground for mosquitos.
