The hotel used in the iconic 1980 Stanley Kubrick horror film The Shining nearly burned down last night.

The Timberline Lodge in Oregon, which was known as the Overlook Hotel in the classic Jack Nicholson film, went up in flames but the fire was promptly put out before it could cause too much damage. Investigators say the blaze started in an attic at the hotel. The cause is under investigation but it’s believed the fire may have been started by blowing embers from a fireplace.
