Beer Drinkers Are Facing DRINKFLATION

Beer drinkers in the U.K. are having to drink more to get drunk because of “drinkflation.” A number of beer companies have decreased the alcohol content of their brews while keeping prices the same. That’s because of a new alcohol duty that taxes breweries and other booze-makers based on the strength of their drinks. A beer with a 5% ABV is taxed at a higher rate than one with an ABV under 4% And with the amount of beer that Britons drink, suppliers can end up with millions in tax savings.
