There is a new holder for the title of “Oldest Man in the World.”

After the recent death of Juan Vicente Pérez Mora of Venezuela, just before his 115th birthday, followed days later by the passing of 112-year-old Gisaburo Sonobe of Japan, Guinness World Records went looking to crown the new record holder and found him at a retirement home in Southport, England. 111-year-old John Alfred Tinniswood is now believed to be the oldest living man in the world.

Tinniswood says his longevity is due to “pure luck” and doing everything in moderation. He says, “You either live long or you live short, and you can’t do much about it.”
